This lively town is the cultural and historical heart of Zanzibar. Stone Town, with its ancient structures and Swahili culture, is a must-see. Arabs, Egyptians, Chinese, Assyrians, Sumerians, and Phoenicians had already arrived in East Africa before the Europeans. Later, great European explorers such as Speke, Grant, Kraft, Livingstone, Burton, and Rebman visited the island.

The arrival of foreigners on the East African Coast resulted in intermarriage and, as a result, the birth of the Swahili culture. The impact of these foreign arrivals in Zanzibar also left behind incredible architecture, which is why the old Stone Town has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
